Norwegian Heritage: Castles and Fortresses

Meet your guide near Oslo City Hall and proceed to Akershus Fortress for the first walking part of your tour. The comfortable coach is waiting for you outside the Fortress and you depart to the next attraction.

The path from Oslo lies to the town of Drøbak. You can observe Oscarsborg, fortress that privided defense against naval attacks heading to Oslo, from a shore as it is located on the island of Kaholmane in the Oslofjord. You also will dive deep in the childhood because the residence of the Norwegian Santa Claus, Julenisse, is also located in this little toy town of Drøbak. There is a gift and Christmas toy shop that is open all year round, as well as a special post office for Julenisse.

From this fairy town, we head further to the fortress city Fredrikstad, where the old streets and walls preserve the reminiscence about the glorious past days, and to the borderline town of Halden along with the famous Fredriksten Festning. Here you will have some time for a lunch, and you will have an opportunity to enter one of the restaurants, which are located right on the fortress’s territory. On the menu, there are traditional Norwegian meals, different meat and fish snacks, and, of course, extremely delicious deserts (lunch is not included in price).

And since we are inside the borderline fortress, we should also cast a look at the border itself. We will head to the bridge where you can stay the way that one leg will be located in Norway while the other one in Sweden.
